WHAT IS MASONRY?

Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man has a responsibility to make the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.

Our continuing pursuit of truth, knowledge, ethics, and leadership skills makes us better men and brings more meaning to our lives. Learning the tenets of Freemasonry, paired with being an active part of our community, gives us the opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills, and builds self-discipline through commitment and self-confidence.

HAVING AN IMPACT

As a member of the Freemasons, the Grand Lodge of California, and Newport Mesa Lodge No. 241, we are a part of a worldwide organization that values tradition, history, and timeless wisdom. The traditions and core values of our fraternity are meaningful today and will endure for centuries to come because of our direct impact in our community, through our charities, and on a personal level.

EDUCATION

Like secular education, Freemasonry transmits knowledge for the purpose of self improvement and a connection to something higher. It teaches through initiatory rites, deep symbolism, and spiritual tradition. While not a religion, its teachings are in harmony with the essential lessons of the world’s religions and have the effect of enhancing the experience of one’s personal spirituality. The capable student will translate these lessons and experiences into his daily life and actions.

FRIENDSHIP

Masonry is a community of men and their families who share similar beliefs and values. The fraternity finds it important to connect with other men of honor, compassion, love, trust, and knowledge, regardless of their race, color, religious beliefs, political views, sexual orientation, physical ability, citizenship or national origin. We are friends and brothers, and are connected through this vital and uplifting organization of moral men.

What is Duchenne’s?
Description:
In the early stages, Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects the shoulder and upper arm muscles and the muscles of the hips and thighs. These weaknesses lead to difficulty in rising from the floor, climbing stairs, maintaining balance and raising the arms. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the alterations of a protein called dystrophin that helps keep muscle cells intact. DMD is one of four conditions known as dystrophinopathies.
Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy symptoms onset is in early childhood, usually between ages 2 and 3. The disease primarily affects boys, but in rare cases it can affect girls.
Event Details:
This is a great way for the lodge and our local community to partner together in raising money for a worthy cause…a cure for Duchenne’s.
Join us for a morning of fun which will offer something for everyone; pancakes, a D.J. providing live music, an onsite classic car show, and a silent auction! The proceeds of which will benefit further research and treatment of this disease. 😎

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, we will be hosting Dr. Lilith Mahmud, Associate Professor of Anthropology at UC Irvine, for an engaging and thought-provoking lecture. Dr. Mahmud is a distinguished scholar who has dedicated years to researching the inner workings of Freemasonry in Italy, with a particular focus on gender dynamics and secrecy within the fraternity.
Her lecture, titled “Freemasonry’s Secrets: Fraternity and Gender in Italian Lodges,” will reveal the often hidden roles women have played in Freemasonry, offering fresh insights into the fraternity’s modern-day relevance.
